Larry E. Metz is a Florida civil litigator with over 28 years of experience. He practices primarily in the areas of automobile liability, premises liability, professional liability, product liability, construction defects litigation, and business litigation. Mr. Metz attended Florida State University College of Law, where he received his Juris Doctor with High Honors in 1983. Since then, he has practiced civil law in the private sector, handling many significant state and federal cases throughout Florida. In addition to membership in The Florida Bar, Mr. Metz is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Middle, Northern and Southern Districts of Florida, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. He has received the highest possible rating for ethics and legal abilities (AV) from Martindale-Hubbell, the nation's preeminent peer reviewed attorney rating organization. Mr. Metz has also received awards for pro bono representation, including as a guardian ad litem representing minor children.

Mr. Metz received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Florida in 1976, where he entered the United States Marine Corps Platoon Leaders Class program. Upon graduation Mr. Metz was commissioned as a Marine officer. After completing infantry officers' training school, 2ndLt. Metz received specialized training as an assault amphibian officer. Over the next few years he served as an assault amphibian platoon commander, detachment commander, battalion staff officer, company executive officer, and base staff officer, including one year in Japan. During this time he also completed graduate courses in public administration at San Diego State University. After release from extended active duty in 1980, 1st Lt. Metz remained in the USMC Reserve. In 1981, Capt. Metz was called to active duty to oversee readiness training of assault amphibian reserve units. He completed his reserve duty and was honorably discharged in 1982. Mr. Metz's love of The Corps continues to this day as a member of the Marine Corps League, North Lake Detachment, where he serves as a member of the Color Guard.

While practicing law in the private sector, Mr. Metz has served his community in public office. He was appointed to the School Board of Lake County by Governor Jeb Bush in October 2004, and was elected to a four year term in 2006. Mr. Metz served one term as Vice Chairman (2005-06) and two consecutive terms as Chairman (2006-08). Mr. Metz also served as a member of the Lake County Zoning Board (2005-10), the Lake-Sumter Metropolitan Planning Organization Governing Board (2008-10), the Lake County Value Adjustment Board (2008-10), the Four Corners Charter School, Inc. Board of Directors (2005-10), and the Lake County Republican Executive Committee (1999-present). In 2008 Mr. Metz was honored to receive the annual Lake County Community Service Award for Leadership. Mr. Metz was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2010. In his first term, Mr. Metz served as a member and Vice Chairman of the Civil Justice Subcommittee, and as a member of the Judiciary Committee, Justice Appropriations Subcommittee, K-20 Innovation Subcommittee, Health & Human Services Quality Subcommittee, and PreK-12 Appropriations Subcommittee. In 2012 he ran unopposed for a second term.
